whisky cruise troon to fort william

Whisky-making in Scotland is a time-honoured tradition that captivates many — and we're no exception.

In 2026 we are delighted to be introducing a new route from Troon to Fort William. With our route still taking in many of the most loved mainland and island stops, we are looking forward to exploring some new places this new route.

Is there a better way to experience Scotland's whisky country than by yacht? We certainly don’t think so! With our expert crew and deep local knowledge, we’ll guide you through remarkable stories, fascinating history, and of course, some exceptional malts. And let’s not forget the sailing — aboard our 18-meter circumnavigating yacht, it’s as smooth and enjoyable as sipping a fine whisky with a splash of fresh Scottish spring water (or so our principal skipper likes to think!).

Cruise through some of Scotlands most amazing coastlines.

With distilleries on almost all points of the compass, the biggest decision will be choosing where to go first! Your skipper will closely follow the weather to get the best sailing in between our stops. You can then choose where to visit. There may even be some of those Gin places enroute :-)

And of course, no trip on our yacht, in these waters, would be complete without some sailing related ticks! With the famous Corryverckan, Sound of Luing and the Mull of Kintyre on our Whisky route, there will be a whole bunch of iconic marine sights being ticked off the list! Visiting island gems like Jura and Islay, alongside lesser known locations this is truly a special route! Don’t forget to keep an eye out for some iconic wildlife such as puffins, seals, dolphins and whales along the way!

Serene beaches, open waters and some amazing “water of life”

Of course, our itinerary and schedule are all influenced by the weather so we may need to make changes as we go, but with at least a dozen distilleries along our route we are sure to tick off a number of whisky and sailing boxes! Below is a sample itinerary as a reference to what you can expect.

Key Information

Travel:

Troon:

Troon is easily accessible by both rail and road. With international flight connections available at the nearby Prestwick and Glasgow international airports our start point is within easy reach for all. Troon train station is a short taxi ride from Troon Yacht Haven which is also served by local bus services. For those driving, parking is available at the marina, note there may be a charge for this.

Fort William:

Our finish point of Fort William is one of the main transport hubs in the west of Scotland and is served with good bus and train services. In fact, the train service will take you on the route made famous by Harry Potter back to Glasgow for onward regional and international connections. Finishing at the foot of the Caledonian canal you can also visit the famous Neptune’s staircase before departing.
