Event ID: AUG3024TC

Skipper (Subject to change): To Be Confirmed

Event Type: Public Event, “Open to All”

Event Class: Challenge (some overnight sailing with a watch system)

Join us as we embark on a journey through Scotland’s North West coastline, before watching the mainland slip away on our quest to navigate the Pentland Firth heading for the west coast of Orkney. With time to explore some amazing places on both the mainland and Orkney it won’t be long before we set our sights for the west coast of Shetland. With it’s incredible, rugged coastline we will cruise North exploring these Viking shores.

Board in the Outer Hebrides bustling port of Stornoway on the isle of Lewis, well served by airport and ferry connections, for an adventure taking in Shetland and Orkney. Taste life in Scotland’s Northern Islands while ticking off some sailing musts and experience passage sailing between islands.

After joining us in Stornoway and with training, familiarisation and safety briefs over, our trip will start as we head off with Cape Wrath in our sights. Weather permitting we will be able to explore some of the remotest parts of Scotland’s North West coast.

watching the coastline slip away

Heading away from the North Coast we will set our sights for the Pentland Firth. With careful tide watching going on we will be heading for the west coast of Orkney. Steeped in rich history, named a great place to live and with our principal skippers favourite distillery, there is always too much to fit in!

After spending some time sailing and exploring around Orkney it will be time again to turn our eyes (and bow) North for Shetland. Arriving into the West coast of this island steeped in Viking history we have a choice of some incredibly remote locations to enjoy some of the most peaceful areas of Scotland. Weather permitting we may even pass round Muckle Flugga, home to Britain’s most northerly lighthouse, as we approach Shetland’s capital on the east coast where the trip will finish.

With good air and ferry links back to the mainland we hope you won’t want to leave.
