The St. Kilda and Western Islands Cruise

Event Type: Public Event, “Open to All”

Experience Required: None

Event Class: Cruise (Mainly day sails with stops most nights)

Join us for a Bucket List Sailing trip to St. Kilda, departing from various locations in Scotland. Our West Coast route starts and finishes in Oban on Scotland’s west coast while the coast to coast route runs between Oban and Inverkip in the Clyde Estuary.

With an amazing array of locations to visit as we aim for the dual world heritage site, we will be spoilt for choices of places to stop. Mull, the Small Isles, the Inner and Outer Hebrides will all beckon. With careful weather watching going on, it won’t be long before we are taking on the North Atlantic and aiming for St. Kilda.

Travel Notes:

Oban:

Oban is well served by bus and train routes and does have a small airport with limited route choices. Car parking is available throughout the town and bookable online (Use the Argyll and Bute council website for best prices), where vehicles can be left, at the owners risk. However, the train route to Oban is one of Scotland’s most scenic and well worth experiencing. Travelling from Glasgow alongside lochs, through glens and over some amazing bridges we highly recommend travelling to Oban by train. However, we also recommend booking a window seat well in advance as they fill up fast in the summer!

Inverkip:

Inverkip train station is a main line station served from Glasgow. Regular bus services also stop in the village. The marina is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, 5-10 from the bus stop. It is worth noting that the train station is at the top of the village. While that’s not a problem arriving with your gear and going downhill it can be a tough walk up at the end of a trip! Car Parking is available at Kip Marina.
