Munros of Mull and the Mainland

A Munro is defined as a mountain, in Scotland, rising to over 3000 Feet and which is on the Scottish Mountaineering Club official list of Munros. Some are a little more inaccessible than others and that’s where we come in! Imagine being able to enjoy a mobile base while ticking some Munros off that bagging list! Munro bagging is a popular way to “Tick off” the achievements of climbing a Munro.

bag ‘em by boat - the best of both worlds?

Heading out from the west coast town of Oban, familiarisation and safety briefs will start your trip off as we head for the Isle of Mull. With options for a North or South route depending on weather it won’t be long before you are settled in for a night aboard before heading for Ben More on the Isle of Mull.

With Mull ticked off you will rejoin the yacht for a hearty meal and night at anchor. After a night to relax afloat we will head for Loch Linnhie aiming towards our mainland Munros. As we settle into another night under the stars planning can be completed for your next trip ashore aiming for the Munros in the Ballachulish and Loch Leven areas.

Guests are free to pursue their own routes ashore and we will provide lunch and snacks for you to take with you. It is important that you are properly prepared for the activity of mountaineering and we recommend guests only consider taking on Munros on this trip after gaining experience with other Munros.

Whilst we will provide safety equipment for your time on the yacht you must have your own walking equipment, as well as being fit enough to complete a mountainous ascent, or trail walk of between 8 and 12 hours duration (to include time for delays). Travel:

Oban is well served with rail and road access and also has a small airport (mainly serving private planes and the island communities). We think though, that the train journey from Glasgow is well worth considering as it takes in some of Scotland’s most amazing scenery as it snakes it’s way through Scottish Lochs and mountains. Car Parking is also available to book online, in advance, for various car parks in the Oban area. You can offload at the pontoons car park before parking your vehicle . Oban is also served by EV charge points from a number of different vendors.
