Event ID: Aug2219TC
Skipper (Subject to change): To Be Confirmed
Event Type: Public Event, “Open to All”
Event Class: Challenge (overnight sailing with a watch system)
Join us on our ocean racing yacht as we embark on an islands journey. Board in the north west Faroes for an adventure taking in not only the Faroe Islands but also Shetland and Orkney as we head south towards Scotland. Finish the trip off with a trip through one of Scotland’s most scenic routes, the Caledonian canal before departing at Oban. With an option to take one of the UK’s most scenic rail journeys to Glasgow to finish your trip you may need an extra memory card for all the pictures and videos!
After joining at Vagar and with training, familiarisation and safety briefs over our trip will start as we head off for some cruising in the Faroe Islands. Working our way south through the glorious scenery the skipper will be keeping an eye out on the weather to chose a good time to head out into the ocean and cross the near 200 Nm to the Shetland Islands. With watches in place it’s time to head away form the sight of land, albeit for a short while. Rounding Flugga Muckle will announce our approach into Shetland for a chance to explore Scotland’s Northernmost Island group.
After some time exploring the Shetland Islands it will again be time to keep an eye on the weather for our overnight passage, destination Orkney! Heading for the east coast we will take in some time to explore the northern Orkney island group before heading for the capital, Kirkwall and some well deserved time ashore. Our adventure doesn’t stop there as we set sail again to head for Scotland’s highland capital of Inverness and the famous Caledonian Canal.
With a three day transit through the canal there will be time for some monster hunting on Loch Ness or perhaps drinks and dining in a canalside “barge bar"! Exiting the canal will see us complete the last portion of the trip heading into Oban on Scotland’s stunning west coast.
£ 1265 per person inclusive of all onboard costs and canal fees, £50 refundable Reservation fee.
