Expedition Report 16 June: Tack-Tastic

After getting ourselves and the yacht tidied up it was time to leave Balamory, sorry Tobermory! We definitely knew the story of both Balamory and Tobermory by the time we left.

Sunday saw us really testing out the skills that we had learned over the course of our trip so far as we hoisted the main to reef one, and put up both the front sails, the Yankee and Staysail! We felt like true ocean racers now. Heading towards the island of Kerrera and with shifting winds we “Tacked” the yacht over twenty times as we made progress down the sound of Mull.

All tacked out we berthed in Kerrera and got onto a dinner of stew and veg. With plans to explore Kerrera before we depart on the 17th it was time for some more research into our expedition aim. With one more day of our qualifier to go we hope you are looking forward to our last update tomorrow.

Keep an eye on our position here.

There was a lot of tacking on the 16th!
