The team at Ocean Sailing Scotland like to make sure that they do what they can to help maintain or improve the natural environment in the places we visit. So, after we cleaned our floating home we headed off to clean the local beach at Croabh Haven. This also forms part of our John Muir award activities which we are also undertaking while on our Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. While the rubbish, plastics and storm debris might have been expected it was a bonus to see a Sea Eagle and Herron keeping an eye on us cleaning up their home after cleaning up our own!
With lunch finished we set sail for Ardfern and managed a good trip with just the staysail (smallest and middle sail) up. It was good to be sailing in nicer conditions after a couple of days of rougher weather. Today we practiced gybing the boat which can be a bit tricky but we did (well we think) well.
With a short trip to Ardfern it wasn’t long before we were approaching the marina accompanied by a curious seal. With fenders attached and ropes at the ready we were soon moored up safely. With planning for the following day underway dinner was soon completed and weather checks done. Thankfully the winds look to be shifting to be far more in our favour for our plans on the 14th.
