Expedition Report 12 June 2019

Well, what a day the 12th of June turned out to be. After preparing the yacht, which we are already getting a dab hand at we checked the weather forecast and some strong winds were due to be further out west than we planned to sail in. So, off we set. Well, the further into the journey we got the worse the weather and conditions were getting. Lets say there were some tumultuous seas!

Our morning snack was pancakes with butter, jam and Seawater! This was probably the tipping point for us deciding in winds that continued to build and a sea that was getting rougher it was time to turn around and head back to the shelter of the marina. Our ocean racing yacht may have been happy in the conditions but as the wind officially hit gale force we decided the weather forecast had tricked us!

Back in the shelter of the marina, a bit wetter than when we left we decided it was now safe to cook lunch. Well there was now significantly less risk of our sausage rolls having an incident with the Single Cream! Mind you we still managed to cremate some sausage rolls!

With time ashore to explore local wildlife, sights and sounds it wasn’t long before a dinner of Chilli or vegetable curry was enjoyed onboard. Looking at the weather (and lighter winds) for the 13th June we hope it’s right so we can continue on our expedition.

Toes dipped and we came straight back, hiding from Gale Force winds!

The noon weather check for 13 June looks a bit more positive, might even get the sails up!
