Since Ocean Sailing Scotland took on custodianship of Taeping we have ensured we operate Carbon Monoxide alarms in both our main accommodation spaces onboard. Although our systems that can produce CO gasses undergo regular maintenance and checks by approved industry specialists we recognise that there is a big risk from other vessels and their emissions. This is especially important on a cool, still evening in a marina where gases might not immediately disperse.
We are therefore delighted to see that new requirements as part of the Boat Safety Scheme will come into force in April 2019 for all sectors.
Why not make your New Year Resolution to service your engine, heaters and cooker then fit and regularly test a Carbon Monoxide detector on your boat?
