We are used to weather watching as sailors, but the start of this trip has seen a bit more activity than usual. Firstly we had Helene which saw the team face some low visibility and gusty conditions on day one.
Now it’s time for the first named storm of the 2018/2019 winter storm season. Hello Ali! With weather warnings in place it’s been time for the team to duck and hide from the approaching storm system.
Thankfully this should be a short game of peek a boo with the storm due to pass through the teams sailing area within a day. For now though, after some great sailing conditions rounding the infamous “Mull Of Kintyre” Taeping and her team have taken shelter in one of the most beautiful bays in Scotland.
Vatersay Bay will be Taeping’s home until storm Ali passes through on the 19th September. With it’s pristine white sandy beach and green hills it is one of Scotland’s most amazing places. The team will be carefully watching their anchor along with the weather over the next 24 hours ready for the next weather window to depart Scottish waters and begin their ocean passage to Iceland.
