Our team of intrepid adventurers are off and straight away into a wind on the nose and wet seas challenge! However, it’s all about timing and after careful analysis of two weather systems it was safer to leave now and take a bit of an uncomfortable wind angle for the first day than risk getting stuck in the much windier system due to hit Iceland tomorrow.
The good news is that after a slow tacking sail round the South West corner of Iceland the wind is forecast to swing round to a much better direction and ease a bit for the team as they enter the open ocean of the North Atlantic.
With training completed and their first night of the trip sail under their keel it will be time to settle into the watch system and “eat, sleep, sail” their way towards Scotland’s stunning west coast.
